Monday Musings

Our first visitor this week landed on the railing of the deck, jumped to my husband's leg and then leaped to the rope of the large green umbrella and finally landing on one of the spokes at the top. Maybe he thought it was a tree. We are glad that we saw him as now we will be more careful in lowering and raising the deck umbrella!

The daughter, SIL, Xman and son all came to spend the weekend for a birthday celebration. The child exploded over my brandnew house in seconds. Windows with the view of the water were smudged with tiny little fingerprints, rugs covered with dangerous obstacles, wood floors sprinkled with milk and walls getting their first nicks from the 'cars'.

We ate baby back ribs, salad, corn on the cob and garlic bread on the deck the first evening followed by an angel food cake. The weather cooperated wonderfully. Early morning found Xman waiting for more food.

Breakfast was waffles. Delicious!!

Kids got a relaxing breakfast while hubby and I babysat. Uncle had lots of fun entertaining the little guy as well...

...including the traditional "lending of the bigshoes."

One look at our lawn that had been destroyed by the bulldozer removing the chain link fence and Xman decided we needed to do some more seeding.

Then in just a few short hours everyone was gone and all that was left were the sweet memories.

A wonderful warm photo journal story. I love the closing shot. It sounds like it's going to be a great place to live.

I didn't know what you meant when you said, "no wonder you're good at scrabble."

  4. I can't even imagine how exhausting this must all be for you and your family. Mentally sending some strength your way.

    Beautiful story, beautiful pictures.

I'll have to post my praying mantis story some time. Shiver.

  8. Tammy, I have the paint color in a bag in my car and I keep forgetting to get that out to those who ask...I'll try to remember. As it is the walls are too flat looking and I want more depth and maybe more ageing...so I am going to be looking at some follow-up treatment in maybe a curry or copper glaze or something like that. I just need more TIME!!!

  9. posting this after reading the one above about the yellow paint:

the color here looks a tiny bit more "yellow" than it does above but still has the peach cast to it and is peachy looking here, too, more so than yellow. our family room is a very pale, buttery yellow...very pale, but definitely yellow. the white molding in our room makes the yellow seem a little more differentiated than it likely would without the white contrast, but there is no doubt that it is yellow. wonder how it would look in a photo...i may have to take one to see! :)

i like the color though, tabor. your house is already put together, and mine isn't after over 2 years! soooooo - wanna come help? ;)
