A Bigger Deal

I have been trying to breathe in and breathe out and find something worthwhile to write about.  I either have to tell something about what is happening to me or something uplifting to share.  Well, I just cannot.  I just plain cannot!  I have a friend who has a daughter that is seriously ill and facing some very big challenges.  I have a friend who just discovered that someone they love has cancer and it has a difficult prognosis.  I have a friend who recently lost a spouse.  And to add to all this big deal the kind minister that married my son and daughter-in-law has just been admitted to the hospital for some lengthy tests.

In addition, I will not go into the sad and unfortunate news that a number of bloggers have shared so bravely recently from their lives.

I believe in the power of prayer but am not sure who I should pray to.  I know, you wonder about my thinking, but that is the way I am.  Anyway, if prayer works for you, please ask for peace for all these souls who are facing such big challenges these days.  Please pray for light and peace so that their days are golden.  I am going to listen to some music and watch some birds live their challenging lives.

  1. It does seem at times over whelming the amount of distressing news we get. Prayers to whom ever are a given.
Amidst all the sad there are little glimmers of bright lights to be. A friend has a brand spank'n new grandson she is loving on!

  3. This is the tune playing in my head. It seems we all keep going around in circles from one tragic story to the next and we make our pleas in the best way we can. Billy Preston sang this with a lot of soul.

    I've got a song, I ain't got no melody
I'ma gonna sing it to my friends

Will it go round in circles?
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky?

  4. I am not sure about prayers but if healing thoughts are of any use, I’ll gladly send them.

  5. I have been catching up - you've been busy! I laughed aloud at the "I sat down just before..." post. All my days with the grandgirls are like that. I blog on weekends only now, and then only when I can scrape up the energy!

I don't have a "god" to pray to either but keeping positive thoughts of someone else sounds a good idea. I like the idea of Brighid's little glimmers of bright light - like the sun and the stars, they are there always, even when we can't see them.

  6. I too, am just catching up. I've been away.

Tabor, I swear you and my older sister are twins.

Her grandchildren stories and they are currently getting huge oak trees cut down so they can sleep better at night. They had trouble finding anybody that would do it. The oaks are so tall and big and hang right over their house roof.

As for your most recent post, I am sending soothing waves of peace your way through meditation.

  8. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. romans 8:26

the spirit knows and is already praying for us even when we dont know...it can be overwhelming at times for sure...

  9. Oh Tabor
do not know what I would do without prayer. Constant prayer uttered in this little cottage and in nature. So much going on in my life also. Remember all you shared and you....

  10. Prayer and gratitude, both wonderful practices. Know that you and yours are in mine. Namaste.

  11. Science has proven to an extent the power of prayer and good thoughts toward others, and as a self-described "crazy old church lady" i believe in them, too. So yes, i will pray that all these people in your life have peace, and joy, and find blessings in the midst of whatever they go through.

  12. Believe me, I look forward to your posts because they uplift me or teach me something- you always write from the heart. So much sadness, but I hope for all the suffering there is also a bedrock of calm that supports them.

  13. Dear Tabor, I am so sorry for all the troubles and health issues. It was my experience that everything seemed to come at once and I still don't know why. I shall be sending love and prayers and healing energies for mind and spirit to all your loved ones.

  15. Denim jackets. They certainly are cyclical, aren't they. Three years ago, everyone was wearing them again, and now they are the hot stuff for the small set. I had to laugh.

What fun to take a river cruise. One here or in Europe? :)

Yes, all you can do is send prayers out into the ether. I believe they work most of the time. If nothing else, they focus our own thoughts and let us move on.

  16. Finally catching up with you after being away for a while. You certainly are a busy person.
I have had similar adventures with trees! But I think poplars have short lives anyway, for trees.
I wish the best to you and your friends and hope their hardships end.

  17. OH My.... So much tragedy and so many heartaches.... When I read about other people and their problems, that makes mine seem unimportant...

My situation that I wrote about on Friday (and don't want to make public on my blog) is a couple of EX daughter-in-law's who are still angry with my sons --so they are taking it out on me, the mother (who sided with my sons) --and keeping the grandchildren from me... Very sad situation --but as I said, not nearly as bad as some people's problems... Prayers for all.
    Hugs,
    Betsy
