In my prior post I had met a woman who had a serious medical issue but indicated that she had a family income that would not mean she could get all the expensive care she needed, although I know she must have an excellent insurance policy.  The Affordable Health Care Act is now a law and being implemented over the next few years (in spite of the fact that they hired terrible web page programmers and were really stupid about how popular this was going to be) over the next months.  The article below is one of the simplest I have read  in explaining what it is and what it does and what it costs.  If you, like the woman above, have excellent some semblance of a fair health insurance policy, this article below will not be important for you.

(As I have written before I have a federal health insurance policy just like the members of Congress.   It might be important to note that Federal employees currently working have had pay freezes the last three years and their health insurance premiums went up 7.3% in 2011, 3.8% in 2012, and 3.4% in 2013..2014 premiums are being sent out at a 3.7% increase.  Those bureaucrats sure have it easy.)

  1. It is not any easier to believe Molly Gum of the Blue Street Journal than it is to believe anyone else for or against Obamacare. There is debate in every issue or explanation. Who knows? The Shadow Knows:)

  2. I recently read on FB that Obama Care is a form of slavery and the ruination of our country. (This from a Southern white kid in a staunchly tea bad state, so no credence there.) Since my children both need affordable health care, I support the law and, more importantly, the concept.

  3. Listening to right wing radio and hearing how many of them called the exchanges to mess up the system, it's not all the fault of Obama. They will get bored being destructive and I think this will get off the ground if Americans relax and quit listening to the pundits screaming the sky is falling as a way to seem relevant.

  4. I have trouble thinking they did that. Glad to know both my daughters can get affordable health care now. Yes, those programmers did a really poor job. Yes, the tea party folks were wrong. America wants medical coverage.

  5. So often, news is propaganda. People need to read and understand the facts, and most don't take the time.

  6. Interesting link that you included.

Exciting times in our country... sort of zoo-like. It'll be interesting to see what's happening a year or two down the road.

  7. It's going to work. People are desperate and will keep trying until they can get what they need. There is a lot of sabotage going on, but, as in their attempts to sabotage the federal government, the antis will make things hard and cause some damage, but they will not prevail.

  8. Thanks for that, Tabor. It's been really hard to find a simple explanation and trying to understand it all from deep in the Pacific.

  9. The original Obamacare (read Romneycare) has been in place in my state (MA) for seven years. There's an interesting article about Obamacare vs Romneycare here: http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/DC-Decoder/2013/0929/Romneycare-vs.-Obamacare-Lessons-for-today-s-shutdown-debacle-video.

  10. It is just amazing to me the amount of bad mouthing people will do to anyone with an opposing opinion. It saddens me to see the core valves this country was founded on being stomped in the mud. What happened to taking care of ourselves, our families, and our friends on the local level?
I neither want nor expect my government to take that responsibility away from me.

  11. I'm all for Obamacare. For those who have forgotten the Affordable Care Act was first designed by Republicans because they didn't like Hilarycare in 1994. In truth Republicans don't want everyone to be covered and they never will.

  12. It always amazes me that people are so willing to believe all the false rumors and assertions and avoid learning anything about the actual, much less sexy, TRUTH!

  14. I have a blog brewing called "Why I love Obamacare," but I want to see if I really do love it. We buy our own insurance and are perfect candidates for a much lower premium than we are currently paying. I was able to apply on the online site without too much problem, but could not access the actual policies available or buy any because the site wasn't working right. Might have to do that over the phone. I did receive a virtual letter with a case # saying we qualified to lower my rates.
