Our First Visit This Year

This should go on my other blog...the one about our beautiful earth, but I have a list of things for that one, so today I share our FIRST real snow...1/2 inch of wet, sloppy kiss, flakes that fell almost the whole day, stuck to the sides and branches of shrubs and trees, revealed animal tracks across my yard,  and then...by the time the sun came out in late afternoon...well, just look at the photos to see.

My Cornell Feeder Watch numbers were in the high dozens as I tried to keep up with all the little birdies that visited my feeders as the snow cover hid their normal food.  Today we are back to normal.

  1. "wet, sloppy kiss flakes" I love that. You are a poet.

  3. Beautiful! With some dried leaves still clinging to the trees, it looks like autumn. You have a mild winter.

  4. Beautiful. My favorite snow lasts two or three days, does not knock out the power, and then quietly sinks into the earth without flooding. :)

  5. Doesn't take long for the snow to melt when the sun comes up, if it's not too cold.

  7. Beautiful, my kind of snow except on Christmas when I'd like it to stay around for a day or so (ha, ha like we can order it up).

  9. I looked up Cornell Feeder Watch. That is fascinating. Since all our birds at sea level here in Hawaii are introduced, except for the nene goose and the plover, I guess we could not contribute much.

  10. For those who don't get snow often, it is so much fun to watch it snow, and then so good when it conveniently all goes away.

  12. Yeah....I guess that's snow (he says, looking at the two feet on his lawn, unseen for two months). Enjoy not shoveling.

  14. And I have to agree with those who loved the "sloppy kiss" comment. Especially since it describes our first snow as well.

  19. It's a good thursday morning to you. I thought you might laugh with me as I attempt to access two medical data online bases. They send results online now, and one of the programs isn't functional at all.

    1. The online access is harder and harder. I have been told I can go online from my results or wait for my doctor, so guess what I do?
